I'm very confused as to what Kraid actually does and who it's for. It's a compiler of some sort, but for what? GLSL? What's significant about it beyond the target backends?

Kraid is the shader compiler for Panfrost, the Mesa driver for Arm Mali GPUs: https://docs.mesa3d.org/drivers/panfrost.html

So Panfrost is an OpenGL ES implementation for Mali-type GPUs then? Thank you for that. Still confused about the role of a compiler here because I'm uninformed. So Kraid is a GLSL compiler that is specific to those GPUs? Neat.

You already can with AMD/Intel gpus. Kraid is a compiler for Arm Mali which is mostly used on mobile stuff, nothing AI related.
